55 dB(A) + 1.5 db(A) = 56.5 dB(A) 3. The resulting sound pressure level in octave 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 is low compared with octave band (4,5 og 3) and can be neglected. The resulting sound pressure level can therefore be estimated to approximately 57.5 dB(A) db(A), dB(B) and dB(C) Calculation Spreadsheet. Similarly if we had doubled the sound power i.e. Two machines, then the measured increase would only be 3 dB. In the first case we had 10 times as much power and the log of 10 is 1 bel or 10 dB. Similarly twice as much power or a factor of 2 gives a log of 0.3 bels or 3 dB.
The table below provides a chart of the decibel levels converted to power ratios, voltage and current ratios. Quickpick 2 1 3 – seamless document launcher.

This table of the different decibel levels related to different power and voltage or current ratios can be useful in quickly determining the power ratio expressed in decibels.
It should be remembered that when using voltage or current ratios, the two readings should be taken for points that have the same impedance otherwise this needs to be accommodated. Otherwise the decibel levels given will be incorrect.
